308 West 145th Street Between 8th Avenue and Edgecombe. I didn't often get as far North as this and when I did it was very early in the morning not only due to the distance but being a caucasion person wandering around an exclusively black neighborhood was absolutely certain to draw unwanted attention to myself!

These two abandoned buildings had a series of very nice carved stone keystones. This photo was the only one I managed to take and it was just barely sunrise so it was still a twilite which made the original photo very dark and grainy. A lot of photoshop manipulation later this is the best pair of images I could get out of the original Kodak 126 prints.

Photo was from circa Sept, 1976 looking towards the South on 145th Street, and at this stage I connected up with a middle aged fellow who had similar interests and more importantly- a CAR with which distance and weight could be covered a lot easier than with a bicycle or hand truck on the subway.

View from satellite shows the whole block gone, the red square is exactly where that street light is in the above photos. An apartment building was subsequently constructed on the site.
